I have health insurance but cannot add my baby, where can I get a plan that is just for the baby? Thanks in advance!|||In all except a couple of states, you can no longer buy "child only" health insurance coverage, thanks to the Health Reform Act. Depending on where you live, you *might* be able to buy a short term medical policy, in case something DRASTIC goes wrong - but if your baby already has health issues, they can decline him.
Otherwise, you'll have to buy a joint policy for both you AND baby together. Or maybe the other parent can add baby to their insurance through their employer.
The last option, if you're low income, would be qualifying for your state welfare child health insurance program - SCHIP.
That's about it, until you can get your politicians to repeal the Health Reform Act!|||Another country.
Seriously, if you cannot add the baby to your current plan, then you need to buy a new plan that is for both you and the baby. After you do this, you can then drop your current plan, if you do not want to pay for two plans for yourself.|||The answer has not changed. You cannot buy child only coverage anymore. All companies stopped issuing child only policies last September.|||In most places you can't. Call a health insurance broker to see what the rules are and what may or may not be available where you live.
