Child support and health insurance question?

My husband has a 10 yr old son who he pays child support for, he doesn't make that much so we receive medical for us and our 4 children. His employer recently told my husband that the child support wants him to enroll my husband in health insurance through his job so his son can get health insurance through him. I know we cant afford to pay health insurance every month, that's the reason we are on medical. my husband told his employer he didn't want insurance. can he get in trouble for this?

FYI his son already has insurance through his mom or step father.|||Your husband should contact his child support case manager about the insurance issues..|||In most states, it is mandatory for the non-residential parent to provide medical coverage for the child, so he may not be left with any choice, or he could obtain coverage for just the child from an independent insurer. If he goes that way, a percentage of the cost can be used as a rebuttable presumption to reduce how much he pays in child support, base on how much the mother earns. This means if she earns the same amount as him, than the court can reduce the child support obligation by 50% of the cost of the insurance. If he comes to Dads House other members may have some recommendations.

For 22 years, I have volunteered my time working with divorced/single fathers dealing in family law issues, such as child support, teaching them about what the states are not telling support obligors. However, men are also highly stressed these days, with severe depression and high rates of suicide, which also need to be addressed.

鈾傗檧|||If the health insurance is a stipulation of the child support through the courts he has no choice but to comply. The best thing he can do is contact his ex and discuss the matter with her to work out a mutual resolution. Either way he needs to handle this part of his life without any interference.
