What could Prez Bush be gaining by subverting the Constitution, the military and child health care?

Hey, this is a serious question. I'm a lifelong Republican who is convinced Bush is doing what's right for the country. But his subversion of the Constitution, military and child health care is well documented; essentially a given. What I need is some confirmation, enlightenment if you will, on just what his motives are.|||Money. His corporate sponsors can offer "contributions" to him and his party.

The president also wants power. He and his cadre have resented the fact that ever since Watergate, presidents have "lost" (in reality, they haven't) power since the Watergate scandal and the Nixon affair. Cheney once claimed that it was his and Bush's "duty" to put more power in the presidency.

He doesn't care about child health care. He does it to undermine Congress' authourity. He spent hundreds of billions on the military - yet just $35 billion on healthcare seems too much all of a sudden.

No, we have a very greedy and power hungry man in power.|||The motives are usually the same: money.

All governments and parties have some corruption, as does business etc. But it has gotten way out of hand, I think greedy might be the word.

If you want to see an unbiased view of history and facts, all documented, but not about "bush", but it might enlighten you, check this out. It has 3 parts and you can pause as you wish.

http://zeitgeistmovie.com/|||It is my belief he is a toadie to corporate interests and by default, his family's interests. The Constitution gets in the way of corporate dominion, the military is used as a way to make billions in war by the military-industrial complex, and he vetoed child health care because if he allowed middle class children to go on government subsidized health care, it would have knocked many of them off of private coverage, and so lowered the profit margins of the health insurance companies.

Always follow the money to find your answers.|||Well if you are a life long Republican who supports George W. Bush then you are delusional at best.|||He rejects Benjamin Franklin's assertion that "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." That is to say, he truly believes his actions are keeping Americans safe.

What I can't fathom is how a so obviously devout Christian as George Bush can't understand the importance of the moral high ground to the security of America.|||Giga $$$ in offshore numbered accounts? As in Watergate, you follow the money. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!|||He has nothing to gain personally.

I don't agree that he has deliberately subverted the constitution as a given. If he had in any significant way, that would be a direct violation of his oath and the Dems would be on it like a fly on a horse apple.

Child health care? All this flap over SCHIP started when Bush asked for MORE money for the bill, not less. The Dems siezed the opportunity to change the bill to include middle class kids and adults already insured.

Subverting the military? I don't get that one at all?|||dude you must be a public school grad to ask such a silly question.what makes you think you are a republican? where did Pres Bush commit all these infractions,if it were true the dems would have impeached him long time ago.nice try harry read......|||He isn't. The democrats blew the child health care bill and some other bills by adding a bunch of needless pork to the bills. He should not let the democrats hold him hostage by signing bills like this. the democrats need to send him this bill without all the pork and they just may see a different result.|||An intelligent question and ch_ris_l is correct. If you look beyond the smoke and mirrors you can see that every decision the president makes benefit someone financially. Government contracters get extremely rich during war. In fact, the Iraq War has been the most profitable of all time. It is no secret that big money industries like the tobacco and oil industries usually lobby republicans to get proposals killed that might cost them money. So how does the president personally gain by making decisions that allow his cronies to get rich. Well one way is rather obvious. Those same companies hire him for "speaking engagements" for 50 to 100 thousand a pop AFTER he has completed his term and is no longer subject to intense scrutiny. There are other many other disguised ways as well but they come to light when you begin to think outside the box and dont believe everything they tell you to believe as you are obviously doing. Good for you.
